The Charm of a Horse-Drawn Carriage

The Charm of a Horse-Drawn Carriage

There’s a lovely surprise, at the Central Park of Granada. A line of decorated horse-drawn carriages which are usually driven by their owners or relatives. They have vast knowledge about the history and traditions of the city, and they definitely like to share it with tourists who decide take a ride arround town.

Today, we want to tell you a little bit about Geovanny García, a  horse-drawn carriage’s driver and owner who has been driving his own carriage for more than 12 years.

He’s originally from Granada, and has lived here since childhood. His family has been working in the horse-drawn carriage’s business for 40 years. It all started when his father bought the first carriage, then his mother bought another one and so the business was growing little by little. However, it was 20 years ago that they started offering rides to the tourists because they identified the demand for people around central park.

Geovanny loves his job! What he likes the most is being able to interact with people from other countries and learn about their cultures. Also, he enjoys teaching them everything he knows about the city and its history.

He hopes to continue with this legacy, since he’s part of the family’s second generation. Come and visit the Central Park of Granada, in every horse carriages there is space for up to 4 people, you can design your own route or just let the driver decide for you. There are small routes of only half an hour that transport you through the Historic Center of the city, as well as 45 minutes tours, and 1 hour tours that take you to know all the Churches; Museums, Parks, Hotels, Restaurants, Monuments and Historical streets.

We highly recommend to you this experience, definitely sitting in the back of a horse-drawn carriage is for sure a more traditional and relaxing way to discover the city! 🙂
